Accredited learning at work with:
Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA)
Institute of Management

What support will I get?

Joining the JHTA Institute of Management Master of Science (Hospitality & Tourism Management) awarded by Revans University means joining a vibrant community of managers, executives and busy professionals dedicated to taking action at work. Learning is generated in a supportive environment where live issues at work provide the curriculum, and fellow participants on the program will provide the benefit of their own insight and experience.

There are a number of key roles to ensure that you bring value to your workplace, succeed in meeting your own learning agenda, and create outputs that meet the standard required of this professional Master of Science qualification. These are:

  • your Learning Coach - who will be a middle or senior manager in the enterprise where you work who is able to assist and support you in identifying workplace challenges, taking action, affecting change, and learning from the experience;
  • your Set Adviser - facilitates the action learning set and ensures the successful, timely completion of course work - that we call "outputs";
  • your Specialist Adviser – provides either a training and / or consulting input or specialist resource expertise pertinent to the pathway and your success.

Additionally in place to ensure the integrity of the program will be:

  • the Accreditation Adviser who will sample work being produced and provide objective feedback to the Set Adviser;
  • the External Reviewer who will be from an academic institution not connected with the program, and interview you on completion about your course work.

Local support and periodic workshops are a feature of the JHTA Institute of Management MSc, which combines the best of local context and culture with robust assessment and evaluation from Revans University. Your learning coach will work with you at work, your Set Adviser has been appointed by Revans University and will facilitate the local workshops, provide feedback and support.

An online, e-learning environment supports your learning at www.imcasocrates.com. The social interaction necessary for successful learning is facilitated through an "asynchronous" meeting place in which you post discussion points as and when you are able. More immediate discussion, for those who wish to instigate it, can be achieved through the live chat areas. Of key importance is the online library where around 2800 quality magazines and journals can be accessed - your unique fieldwork will be greatly enhanced by reference to key concepts and best practices from the world's literature.
